Manual Arc Welding

Objective

The aim of the vocational training programme is to prepare learners with the competencies required to perform manual arc welding in accordance with industry standards. The programme equips participants to understand the principles and characteristics of manual arc welding technology, interpret technical drawings, technological instructions, and process sheets, organise the workplace, select and prepare appropriate equipment and tools, perform manual arc welding of metal components in various welding positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead) in compliance with occupational health and safety requirements, inspect weld quality, identify and correct defects, and prepare documentation related to completed work.

 

Admission Requirement

  • Completion of basic general education.

 

Graduate Competencies

Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates will be able to:

  • Explain the principles and characteristics of manual arc welding technology.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, technological instructions, and welding process sheets.
  • Organise the workplace and select and prepare the required equipment and tools.
  • Prepare components and assemblies for welding and secure them using appropriate fixtures and tack welds.
  • Perform manual arc welding of metal components in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead welding positions.
  • Finish weld seams, inspect weld quality, and identify and correct welding defects.
  • Prepare documentation related to completed welding work.
  • Comply with occupational health and safety requirements.
